photonbooks is a small independent publisher dedicated to creating books that inspire and stimulate insight.

Photonbooks was created by Steve Unwin an internationally recognised speaker, thinker and writer on change, to allow the freedom to create books the way he thought they should be. Our catalogue is small but growing and there are many exciting projects in the pipeline.

I chose the name photonbooks for two reasons. I first imagined the darkness of the universe. Pitch black, seemingly endless nothingness. That very first photon of light, tiny though it was, must have been the most dramatic creation ever. A little thing but transforming the entire universe. It reminds me that being small is sometimes no hindrance to having a great effect.

The other special thing about photons is that they are not quite what they seem, or perhaps are strangely just what they seem. It turns out that a photon is both a particle and a wave. If you’re looking for particles, that’s what you’ll find, look for waves and you’ll find the photon is a wave. I like that about the photon, that feeling of paradox, it mirrors the world I experience. ‘We see things not as they are, but as we are.” as Anais Nin so succinctly put it.

I hope that through these books I can help someone see in new ways, and by doing so create new worlds and new futures.
